The Town Office will remain open during the construction, but will only be accessible using the south (alley) entrance from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Please see below for tips on paying bills or conducting other business with the Town of Black Diamond during this project.
The concrete is falling away from the stairs and its railings and the accessibility ramp has become badly deteriorated and unsafe. The front steps will be replaced, and the ramps have been redesigned to lessen the slope, making access easier for those with mobility issues. The retaining wall on the west side of the stairs is failing and will be replaced with a non-concrete construction that will include plantings and seating areas.
In-person payments are still an option, but if you are not able to attend the office during regular office hours, the overnight payment drop slot will not be available during the construction period. There are a few options available to pay your bills during construction – online, credit card (charges apply), mail, etc. If you choose to mail your payment, please be sure to do so early enough to avoid late-payment penalties. Please do not mail cash.
The Town Office WILL BE OPEN throughout this construction, and the public can access the building using the south (alley) entrance during regular business hours, if needed.
The front parking lot will be open to the public only on the west side, and site crews may also be parking in that area. The east side of the parking lot will be closed on Thursday afternoon (July 29) and equipment will begin to arrive on site on Thursday as well. If you need to visit the office, please park in the upper (south) parking lot, accessible from the alley behind the Town Office. From there, walk west down the alley to the Office's south door. There is one (1) Disabled Parking space available right in the backyard of the Town Office.
Regular Council Meetings will take place as scheduled during the construction, but they will be held at the Griffiths Centre (122 Government Road South) unless otherwise indicated on the Agenda. Council meetings held during the construction period will continue to be available via our GoToMeeting platform, as they have been throughout the pandemic, to ensure the public is able to attend. Meeting links are published at the top of each Council Meeting Agenda for ease of access. The Town sincerely wishes to thank the Griffiths Centre for allowing Council meetings to be held there for the duration of the construction.
