Property Tax Deferrals

At the May 6, 2020, Regular Meeting of Council, Council requested that Administration prepare a Property Tax Deferral Program to assist those in financial need due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  As a result, the 2020 Tax Rates Bylaw (2020-12) provides that the usual due date of July 31 has been changed for 2020 to September 30, 2020.  Penalties on all outstanding balances will be applied on October 1, 2020.

As with any deferral program, if you can make either full or partial payments you are encouraged to do so.  If you cannot make a payment, the deferral program is available to help you out during these uncertain times.

If you are currently a participant in the Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) program and you need to defer payments, you can do this by visiting the Town’s website Property Taxes page and filling out the online TIPP Termination Form.  In terminating your TIPP participation, the pre-authorized payments will be stopped, and then recalculated when you are ready to resume in the program.  It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to re-enroll in the program when they are ready. Penalties may be applicable, in accordance with the TIPP Bylaw.

2020 Property Tax Notices for the Town of Black Diamond were mailed the week of June 22, 2020 to all assessed property owners. Town of Black Diamond property owners are deemed to have received their tax notices as a result of the publication of this notice.

If you require assistance or have any questions about deferring your property tax payment, please email the Tax & Utility Clerk or call 403-933-4348 and ask to discuss your options.
