Utility Deferral Process- In response to COVID 19
The Town of Black Diamond has waived the utility bill penalties for late payment of January-February 2020 bills. Deferred payments are also available for March-April and May-June 2020 billing periods. Our hope is to offer some relief to Black Diamond residents in the short term, during this unparalleled time.
Residents who can pay are encouraged to do so; for those who cannot, there is a payment deferral option.
Utility bills will not come due until September 15. No late fees will accrue until September 15. If you can pay your utility bill at this time, please do so.
Utility bills will continue to be sent out at their regular times throughout this year.
- Preauthorized payments will continue to come out on the regular scheduled dates of June 15, August 15, October 15 and December 15, 2020.
- Payments for March-April and May-June 2020 bills may be deferred until September 15th, 2020.
- Any outstanding amounts as of September 16th will incur a 5% penalty on the balance owing.
- For the July-August billing period, we anticipate that a normal schedule will resume, and payments will be due on October 15, 2020.
For titled property owners and tenant agreement holders who would like to cancel their pre-authorized utility payments scheduled for withdrawal for any of these deferrable billing periods, please contact us by email at Tax@town.blackdiamond.ab.ca with Cancellation of Pre-Authorized Utility Payment in the subject line. Please provide your property address and utility account number by at least seven (7) days in advance of the scheduled payment date, to ensure that payments are not withdrawn from your bank account.
Account-holders will need to reactivate pre-authorized payment for future utility bills. To do this, please email the above address.
