Garbage Collection

Garbage collection normally takes place on Thursday and Friday in Black Diamond.  Garbage collection is undertaken using an automated system, whereby the truck's arms are extended from the vehicle to lift the bins and dump them into the truck.  The Towns of Black Diamond and Turner Valley have an agreement for sharing the garbage truck.

Schedule Changes

Holidays, equipment breakdowns or emergency situations may cause the collection schedules to be altered, either as a planned alteration or as a last minute requirement.  The Foothills Regional Landfill may also close the Landfill for safety reasons, at their discretion.  This may cause collection to cease and/or require a schedule alteration.  Wherever possible, these collection schedule changes will be posted to the Town's website Calendar, News Items and/or on the Town's Facebook page.

Please ensure that your garbage is always out on the street by 7:00am on all collection days.  At any time, normal schedules/routes may require to be altered.  This may cause your garbage to not be collected at the "usual" time the truck comes by.

Automated Collection Bins

The Town of Black Diamond has been using an automated collection system for a number of years now.  Every household should have a bin.  The bin belongs with the property, and should not be removed when a resident moves to another home.  The automated system does require some specific placing of the bins.  A brochure to assist users learn to use these bins has been created.
