How To Apply

If you are interested in applying to serve on any of our Boards or Committees, please fill out and return the Committee/Board Application Form (PDF) to the Town Office. Most meetings are open to the public and if you would like to attend please call the Town Office for information.

Economic Development Committee

EDC is a volunteer based advisory committee that encourages and facilitates business development and tourism in the Town of Black Diamond. Please email the Special Events Coordinator if you are interested in volunteering on Special Events so we can put your name on our "call-out" list: we would greatly appreciate your help. EDC consists of members of Council, members at large and business owners.

Emergency Management Agency

Ensures that the Town of Black Diamond has plans in place to meet emergency situations.

Family & Community Support Services Board

FCSS is a Town department that funds and offers local preventative social service programs, with the goal being to build a strong, cohesive and supportive community. FCSS works to ensure that necessary programs and services are available to children and families, seniors and vulnerable individuals as well as the community as a whole. FCSS meets monthly to discuss needs in the community and make program/funding decisions. There is currently a vacancy on the FCSS board for a member at large who must be a resident of Black Diamond. Foothills Cemetery Board

Responsible for the operation and future planning of the Foothills Cemetery located just west of Black Diamond.

Crescent Point Community Fund

A non-profit organization created to benefit the communities where Crescent Point Energy (formerly Legacy Oil and Gas Inc.) operates within the Sheep and Highwood river drainage areas. Municipal Planning Commission

This commission meets as required to determine if new development applications meet the requirements of the Town of Black Diamond's Land Use Bylaw.

Parks & Recreation Board

Responsible for the planning, creation and maintenance of local parks and pathways systems. They also host a sub-committee, which is responsible for the Diamond Valley Community Garden.

Sheep River Library Board

Sets policies for the operation of the Library, planning for the future of our Library.

Intermunicipal Subdivision & Development Appeal Board

A quasi-judicial board that meets as required in order to address any appeals of decisions made by the Municipal Planning Commission or by the Development Authority.

Sustainable Black Diamond Advisory Committee

Makes plans for the sustainable future of the Town of Black Diamond and forwards this information to Council to assist in sustainable planning and decision-making.

Turner Valley Oil & Gas Group

Representatives from the oil and gas industries, municipal and provincial governments, regulatory agencies, and emergency/disaster services that have interests within the towns of Turner Valley, Black Diamond and Longview and the MD of Foothills. Persons in attendance at any public or community event held within the Town of Black Diamond should understand that it is possible that their photograph or video image may be taken during the event, and that these images become the property of the Town of Black Diamond and may be used for promotional purposes in any media format preferred by the Town of Black Diamond in perpetuity.
