Wondering How to Make a Difference?

The Town of Black Diamond is proud to have a long history of wonderful volunteers. If you are interested in playing an active role in your community, we encourage you to take a look at the following committees and organizations that are often in need of volunteers and feel free to contact them for further information. Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Committees and Boards

One of the many ways to volunteer in our community is to serve on a Committee of Council. Most of the Committees, Boards and Commissions have residents of the Town of Black Diamond who serve as Members at Large. If you would like information about serving on any of these boards or would like to attend any of their public meetings, please call the Town Office at 403-933-4348, email us, or check the Events Calendar to find out http://town.blackdiamond.ab.ca/DocumentCenter/View/93 when the next meeting of that Committee is scheduled to take place.

FCSS Board

Black Diamond Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) meetings occur the 2nd Monday evening of each month (except summer) to make decisions regarding preventative social programming in the Town of Black Diamond. The intent behind FCSS programs and services is to build a strong, cohesive and supportive community. A unique feature to this committee is that one of the member-at-large positions is open to a youth representative who can be a student at Oilfields High School looking to bring the voice of their generation to the table.

Although all positions on this board are currently occupied, please feel free to submit an application in case a spot becomes available. The completed application can be submitted to Suzan Nagel at  SuzanN@town.blackdiamond.ab.ca  Applications are available at the front desk of the Town office or at http://town.blackdiamond.ab.ca/DocumentCenter/View/93.

Oilfields General Hospital

The hospital has an active volunteer program for work within the hospital as well the Meals on Wheels program. Specific opportunities currently include mealtime assistance/hosting and pet therapy. Please contact Janet Scott at 403-933-6564 or janet.scott@ahs.ca to submit the application.
