Incapacitated Voter at Home Service

Election - Vote - smaller

The Town of Black Diamond is offering a Voter at Home service on Thursday, October 12, 2017 between the hours of 1:00pm and 8:00pm. Eligible voters, resident in Black Diamond, who are unable to leave their homes to vote due to physical incapacity, may make application for 2 Deputy Returning Officers to attend their home so they can cast their ballot.

Part 1 - Eligibility

Please note that the first part of the application process is the elector's declaration of eligibility.  It contains the following statements that the elector must be able to agree to, in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act:

  • I am 18 years of age on or before October 16, 2017; and
  • I am a Canadian Citizen; and
  • I am a resident of Alberta since April 16, 2017, and
  • I will provide the required proof of eligibility as required by the Local Authorities Election Act (acceptable identification), and
  • I, the elector, am eligible for incapacitated voting at home, as I am unable to attend a voting station or advance vote due to physical incapacity.

If the elector cannot agree to all of the statements, then they are not eligible for the Voter at Home service.  If the form is submitted, and all of the boxes are not ticked, the application process will end at that point and the 2nd part of the application form will not open.

If the form is submitted with all of the statements ticked, then the 2nd part of the form will open and you may proceed with the rest of the application.

Part 2 - Application

The second part of the form provides the Returning Officer with the necessary information to provide the successful applicants with the Voter at Home services.  The final decision to accept any application rests with the Returning Officer.  Applicants must fill in all Required fields* contained within the application or it will not be able to be submitted.  If you cannot submit the form, scroll back up through your information, looking for anything highlighted in red - those are the required fields that are blank, and are holding back your application.  Complete those fields and scroll back down to try submitting again.

If you feel that you require this service and that you are eligible and qualified, you may complete the 2-part online application form or by visiting the Town Office, during regular office hours to pick up an application form.  All applications must be received prior to 4:00pm on Wednesday September 27, 2017.

If you have any difficulties with the eligibility requirements or the application form, please email the Returning Officer or call the Town Office during regular office hours at 403-933-4348.
