Generally, Council holds 3 Regular Meetings each month. They are:
- 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 pm
- 4th Tuesday of each month at 9:00 am
Council meetings may be cancelled by resolution of Council, such as in July or August.
Special Meetings of Council are scheduled, as needed. If time permits there will be public notification and an agenda package available on the Town's website.
Unless otherwise noted, all Council Meetings are held in the Council Chambers, located at:
301 Centre Avenue W, Lower Level
Members of the Public are Welcome
All Council meetings are open to the public, except for scheduled Closed Session discussions. The public is encouraged to come and see their elected officials at work. Please refer to the "Town Council and Council Meetings (PDF)" brochure for further information.
If you would like to take an opportunity to speak directly with your elected officials, there are two (2) ways to do this at a Council meeting. Please read the brochures "Question Period (PDF)" and "How Do I Speak with Council? Meetings may include Public Hearings. You will find the information on those rules and guidelines by following the link to the "Public Hearings Information and Process (PDF)" document.
Alberta Municipal Affairs publishes a very handy brochure "Pecuniary Interest for Municipal Councillors (PDF)" The guide is filled with information about what determines when a Councillor must declare a pecuniary interest and excuse themselves from discussion/voting - and the rules outlining the obligations of a Councillor to vote on any matter before Council.
Code of Conduct Bylaw
This bylaw establishes a code of conduct for members of Council, council committee and other bodies established by the Council.
