The Sheep River Regional Utility Corporation ("SRRUC") was formed in partnership with the Towns of Black Diamond, Turner Valley, the Municipal District (MD) of Foothills and the Village of Longview. The SRRUC is responsible for distributing potable water to residents within its partnering municipalities. This includes delivering the water to each partner municipality and for metering and billing each municipality for those water services. Residents, as end water users, will not see any difference in the format of their bills, or in the service they receive. The Town of Black Diamond remains dedicated to delivery of the potable water to each residence and business. These operations are governed by the Province of Alberta, through a Code of Practice.

SRRUC is a public utility, and the corporation is recognized by the Province of Alberta, by Alberta Regulation 16/2016.  The regulation may be updated or amended from time to time.
